    Graduation!May 12, 2012
    I finally did it!

Welcome

Hello!

My name is Jessica Bedore and I am a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh majoring in public relations and minoring in spanish.

Currently, I am the president of my school’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America and I absolutely love the organization. To me, there is nothing better than learning about our ever-changing field with hundreds of students who are in the same position.

Public relations is something that I am extremely passionate about and I love to spread knowledge about the industry to my peers and colleagues. I would say that my favorite areas of the field are event planning, branding, social media and media relations. My internship at a prominent local PR agency (@weidertgroup) has definitely given me valuable experience that helped me define my true passions.

This summer, I had the awesome opportunity to intern at the Experimental Aircraft Association (@EAAupdate). My time there taught me the importance of having knowledge in all areas of the field, not to mention the importance of juggling a heap of tasks! I was privileged to help with the planning of AirVenture, which is an annual event that draws over 500,ooo people to Oshkosh, Wis. To say the least, it was an action-packed summer with the company’s passionate PR team.

Upon graduation in May 2012, I would love to work at a PR agency or a corporation in the area/state. Please read my resume and look at my portfolio to view my past projects. Note: These pages are always being worked on, so please be patient as they change.

I like to focus my blog posts on what I learn everyday at my internship and in my classes. Usually, my posts are about things that I wish I had known before I started my internship hunt. I believe that I am learning so much at my internship and feel that I can be a valuable source of information for younger students in the field. However, you should be advised that the occasional cat picture, funny Youtube video or nonsense post will sneak up.

Aside from PR, I am an avid downhill skier, political junkie, daycare teaching assistant and campus leader.

Please click on the “blog” tab above to read about my life as a PR or click “interact” if you have any questions for me.
